In January, 2006, the only book ever written about Victoria Station — the popular boxcar and prime rib restaurant chain from the 1970s — will be published.
The book is a memoir titled: Prime Rib and Boxcars:
Whatever Happened to Victoria Station?

I have great memories of Victoria Station and have always considered Dick, Bob, and Peter as fellow pioneers. Perry’s opened in August of 1969; Victoria Station opened at the foot of Broadway in December of 1969.

I have an immense amount of respect for what they did—there were a million steak houses, but no one had done a prime rib destination place before them. And then to put the concept in old railroad cars—very cool, very cozy, and very catchy.

I have to admit I was somewhat envious of their growth and very impressed with how far they took it. Too far too fast, I guess, and that was a shame.

Nevertheless, Victoria Station was a brilliant idea and it really worked. It also brought a whole cache of good people to the fore, like yourself, Fred Parkin, and so many others. I am getting hungry just writing this.
